Roulette Terminology Every Gambler Should Know

Roulette is one of the most popular games you will find in any casino. The red and black wheel has adorned gambling establishment halls since the 18th century, and continue to do so to this day. Indeed, if you enter a casino for the first time, it is very likely that one of the first games you will come across is the roulette.
With that in mind, it is important for new gamblers to understand some of the most important terms associated with the game. Whether you are playing online Novibet roulette or the land-based version, these are the terms you need to know if you want to fully enjoy the game.

Wheel
The simplest term to understand, the wheel refers to the physical wheel that you can find at any roulette table. This wheel is comprised of a number of black and red pockets, all of which are numbered from 1 to 36.
It is important to understand that the wheel might look differently, depending on whether you are playing French or American roulette. In French, the wheel will have an extra pocket, marked 0. Whereas in the American game it will have two extra pockets marked 0 and 00.

Out Bets
Outside bets, or simply out bets, are a type of wager in roulette that focus on placing a bet on a larger group, rather than a specific outcome. Usually, outside bets are recommended to new players who have never played the game before, and are curious about giving it a go. You can find out bets examples below.
 Color: bet on whether or not the ball will land on a black or red pocket.
 Odd Number: a wager on whether the ball will land on an odd number.
 Even Number: a wager on whether the ball will land on an even number.
 High/Low: a wager on whether the ball will land on a low (1-18) or high (19-36) number.

Inside Bets
The opposite of outside bets is inside bets. These are a lot more specific, and usually require taking a bigger risk, as the odds are much lower. That is why inside bets are  usually for high-rolling players, who aren’t afraid to take risks, but also are fully aware that they might lose a lot of cash. Examples include the following:
 Straight-Up: a wager on a single number.
 Split: a wager that the ball will land on either of two adjacent numbers.
 Street: a wager that the ball will land on any of three adjacent numbers.

Croupier

The person who is in charge of the roulette table is called a croupier. This bit of information is important, even to online roulette fans. After all, thanks to the most recent developments in livestreaming, even online players can now enjoy a face-to-face game with a living croupier.

Live casinos have become a huge hit online, and have brought a breath of  fresh air to the game, rejuvenating it in many people’s eyes. They bring a sense of excitement and fun that many online gambling fans did not expect to ever see.
