On October 4, 2024, at approximately 7:17 PM, officers from the 15th District, along with Fire Department units, responded to a house fire at 71XX Montague Street, initially reported as "Local People Trapped." Upon arrival, smoke was observed coming from the garage and interior of the house. Firefighters rescued a male and female from the residence and attended to their medical needs.
Further investigation revealed the presence of materials used to create incendiary devices and fireworks, prompting a Hazmat situation. The male resident was detained pending further investigation. Multiple agencies, including the PPD Bomb Disposal Unit, ATF Taskforce, Homeland Security, Northeast Detectives, and PFD Fire Marshals, responded to the scene. Nearby homes were evacuated, and traffic was diverted to ensure public safety.
The male suspect later identified as 27-year-old Evgenii Sadrislamov from 71XX Montague Street was charged with Weapons of Mass Destruction, Causing/ Risking a Catastrophe, Recklessly Endangering another Person (REAP), and related offenses.
On October 9, 2024, a homicide by shooting occurred in the 35th District at 57xx N Camac Street on the highway at 5:31 PM. A 22-year-old Black male was struck multiple times in the head and torso. He was transported to Einstein Hospital by police where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 5:43 PM. The scene remains held, and no weapons have been recovered, nor have any apprehensions been made at this time.
