Fiber internet comes with a higher price tag than other internet connectivity options, but consumers are often willing to pay the higher price to receive the benefits. They will also need to pay for installation, as the average person cannot complete this task independently. The speed and reliability of fiber internet make it a worthwhile investment, however, so most people are willing to pay these costs. 
Additional Options
Consumers don't need to choose between fiber and cable internet. Other options exist that should be considered. DSL and fixed wireless are commonplace, and some rely on satellite internet. People must consider what they use the internet for and determine whether upgrading to fiber will help them get more done. While it would be nice if everyone had access to lightning-fast speeds and reliable fiber internet,
that's not possible today. Other options will have to suffice. 
Choosing an internet connection shouldn't be difficult. First, people should learn whether fiber internet is offered in their area. Once they have determined what is offered, they can choose. If fiber is provided, it should be at the top of the list of possible choices. When it is not available, other options must be explored. Don't give up hope.
