MULLICA HILL – Gloucester County Commissioners Nick DeSilvio and Chris Konawel renewed their call for their Democrat opponents to return $10,400 of campaign donations they received from the Parker McCay law firm. Phil Norcross, the managing shareholder and CEO of the law firm, was recently charged in a 13-count indictment along with George Norcross and others.
“Last week we issued a statement calling on our opponents to return campaign funds received from the Parker McCay law firm, unfortunately that call fell on deaf ears” Gloucester County Commissioner Nick DeSilvio said. “Phil Norcross, the managing shareholder and CEO of the law firm, was recently charged in a 13-count indictment along with George Norcross and others.”
DeSilvio Added, “As elected officials we are held to a higher standard, as we should be. Our opponents hold municipal office and they should know to stay away from even the appearance of impropriety. At the very least campaign money our opponents received from Parker McCay are Norcross connected, they need to return that money immediately.”
Gloucester County Commissioner Chris Konawel explained, “According to campaign finance reports filed with the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission our Democrat opponents happily accepted $10,400 from Parker McCay just four days before the announcement of the indictment of George Norcross, Phil Norcross and others. Given the fact that Phil Norcross is the managing shareholder and CEO of Parker McCay and is currently under indictment our opponents should immediately return that money.”
Konawel continued, “At the very least they could give that money to charity. Considering the scandal involving Gloucester County Democrats and their attempt to hide the death of an arson investigation dog is still under investigation by the State Attorney General’s office they could give the money to a charity for dogs in need of a home.”
“Our opponents are proud Democrats,” DeSilvio said. “Attempting to hide the death of a dog, literally by burying it, trying to hide a road-raging county official pulling a gun and taking money from someone under indictment. That’s the legacy of the Gloucester County Democrat machine.”
