CNBNews Politics: Disingenuous Gloucester County Democrats

Democrats want the fox to watch the hen house

MULLICA HILL (October 2, 2024)(CNBNews)– Gloucester County Commissioners Nick DeSilvio and Chris Konawel, up for reelection, said today that it is clear County Democrats are disingenuous in how they act and what they say.

“Gloucester County Democrats go out of their way to make it appear they support organized labor, even going so far as to put union members, including one of our opponents, on the ballot whenever possible,” Commissioner Nick DeSilvio, a retired union electrician, said. “Unfortunately, they don’t behave like supporters of labor and have no problem crossing a picket line for a photo op. Unlike them, including my union member opponent, I don’t cross picket lines for photo ops and even walk the line with my union brothers and sisters. If you’re going to say you support organized labor, then show your support.”

Commissioner Chris Konawel added, “Everything our opponents do is disingenuous, not only is a ‘proud’ union member willing to cross a picket line for a photo op, but they make it appear as though they have done things they have had noting to do with. Their website and campaign literature list accomplishments they had nothing to do with.”

Konawel continued, “They make it appear as though they had a role in reducing the county tax rate. That’s plain wrong, they weren’t there, we had a hand in that. They make it appear they reformed the county jail system. Wrong again, that happened under our Sheriff and on our watch. Plain and simple, the Democrats want county government to go back to single-party control so the fox can watch the hen house. Without us, spending will go back to being out-of-control.”

“The truly dishonest language on the Gloucester County Democrats’ campaign website and literature is they stand against all political extremism.” DeSilvio said, “This is the same party that tried to hide the death of a dog and then tried to hide the fact a county official pulled a gun during a road rage incident. I can think of nothing more extreme! We ran on the promise that we would hold the line on taxes and we did, we promised a more transparent government and have shone a light on what happens in our county. Promises made. Promises kept. That’s why we’re running for reelection.”
