Your Guide to Luxurious Travel in Corfu
Thursday, September 12, 2024
Corfu is one of the few Greek Islands which can offer a wholesome blend of beautiful nature, lots of cultural sites and luxurious properties. Some guides call it the place for the most affordable luxurious getaway in the Mediterranean. We’re here to strengthen that claim. This is a guide for luxurious travel in Corfu.
Getting to the Island
Reaching Corfu is possible in 2 ways – by air or by ferry.
Corfu International Airport (Ioannis Kapodistrias) is connected to quite a few major European cities. Regular flights from budget and other airlines make it accessible for most of the continent.
If we’re talking about ferries, the simplest choice is going from Igoumenitsa in Athens. The price for a ferry is usually around 100 EUR PP (with a car), whilst budget airline tickets can start for as low as 20-30 EUR PP.
Accommodation in Corfu
Corfu is full of hotels and picturesque cottages. However, if you want something truly luxurious, we can recommend opting for a villa. These are usually much more affordable than in some other Mediterranean Islands but just as lavish and usually of newer construction.
One of them is Luxury Villa Olives in the Sea by Amberton. It was built in 2023 and comes with 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. You will also find a fully equipped kitchen, main living and dining areas with tons of space, and a mind-boggling 17x4 meters proportion infinity pool. On top of that, the green surroundings with the one-of-a-kind view of the Sea make this villa stand out. Click here to find out more.
Getting Around the Island
While Corfu has public buses connecting major towns, it isn’t the most convenient method for getting around. Renting a scooter or a car gives you much more freedom to explore the island.
Windy roads and mountainous terrain make it impossible to rely solely on walking. A small car or a scooter will allow you to check every item on your bucket list whilst keeping your energy for hikes, swims or other activities.
It’s also more convenient for families and groups.
Best Bars & Restaurants
Who doesn’t enjoy a full plate of delicious meals and a glass of a refreshing drink? Greeks and Corfu natives have set up some fantastic spots for you to visit:
- Etrusco – Mediterranean cuisine with a Michelin-starred reputation.
- The Venetian Well – located in Corfu Town with Venetian-inspired dishes.
- Taverna Agni – go to a picturesque beach and enjoy seafood by the water.
- Kaiser Bridge Restaurant – one more fine dining option near Achilleion Palace with views.
- Trilogia Platonos – located in Paleokastritsa, this restaurant is famous for its food and view.
Renting a Boat for Some Fun on the Water
