Ronald Anthony Raube, beloved father, talented athlete, skilled artist, and nature lover, passed away peacefully on June 30, 2024, at the age of 85.
Ronald was born on March 21, 1939, and grew up in Gloucester City. He attended Gloucester High School and excelled in football and track and field, setting long-standing records that highlighted his athletic excellence.
Following high school, Ronald served honorably in the National Guard, demonstrating his commitment to his country. His passion for football continued as he played for the Richmond Rebels, a journey that showcased his dedication and skill until an unfortunate game-winning injury ended his football career.
Despite the setback, Ronald's talents extended beyond the football field. He was a gifted artist who pursued commercial sign making, a craft that allowed him to blend creativity with precision. Concurrently, he worked as an independent truck driver, a profession he held until his retirement.
Ronald also found great joy coaching little league baseball and football, where he could pass on his passion and expertise to the next generation of young athletes.
Ronald's love for nature and farming was evident throughout his life. He was a skilled farmer who found joy in working the land and nurturing his crops, a testament to his connection with the earth and his hardworking spirit.
Ronald is survived by his children: John Raube, Ronald Raube, Marlena Lansdale, Maria Raube, and James Raube; his grandson Michael Raube; 11 other grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marlena Raube, who passed on March 7, 2001.
A celebration of Ronald's life will be held on August 4th at 2 PM at Verna’s Flightline Restaurant for family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local hospice services, honoring Ronald's legacy and love for nature.
Ronald's life was marked by his dedication, talent, and love for his family and nature. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him.
