Marion Scalzo, 83, of Plymouth Meeting, formerly of Gloucester City

Marion Scalzo, 83, of Plymouth Meeting, formerly of Gloucester City, NJ, died on August 27, 2024. She was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 16, 1941 to the late Ernest and Anna (Romano) Scalzo. After graduation from Little Flower High School, Marion joined the convent of the Sisters of Saint Joseph, taking the name Sister Rose Jeanette. As a Saint Joseph Sister, Marion taught in parishes in Philadelphia, PA and Ocean City, NJ. After leaving the convent, became a teacher at St. Mary Elementary School in Gloucester City, NJ for 40 years until her retirement. Marion loved teaching there, St. Mary’s was like a second family to her.

For many years, Marion was also a sales associate at Strawbridge’s in the Cherry Hill Mall where she made many friends. She also enjoyed traveling and took many tours across the US and Europe.

Marion is survived by her brothers Ernest Scalzo and wife Maria, Anthony Scalzo and wife Diane, her sister Ann Marie Fox, 30 nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by a sister Jeanette Belvedere.

Relatives and friends are invited to a Viewing on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 9:00 - 10:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City, NJ. Interment will be in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, 515 W. Browning Rd., Bellmawr, NJ.
