Juvenile Bicyclist Injured in Motor Vehicle Crash in Gloucester Township

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP NJ --On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at approximately 5:58 PM, Gloucester Township Police responded to a motor vehicle crash involving a juvenile bicyclist on Chews Landing Road near Little Gloucester Road.
Upon arrival, officers found the injured juvenile in the roadway. The driver, who was uninjured, remained on the scene and cooperated with authorities. The bicyclist was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries. Gloucester Township Fire Department Squad 88, Virtua Paramedics, and Inspira Basic Life Support assisted at the scene.
This incident is under investigation by the Gloucester Township Police Serious Crash Investigation Team (SCIT). No criminal charges have been filed, and the identities of those involved are being withheld pending further investigation and notifications.
Bicycle Safety Reminder: Gloucester Township Police urge all cyclists, particularly juveniles, to wear properly fitted helmets and follow road safety practices. Helmets significantly reduce the risk of serious injury. Cyclists should obey traffic laws, use hand signals, and remain visible to drivers, especially at intersections. Always ride in the direction of traffic and use proper lighting and reflectors when cycling at night.
