Philadelphia Police Report: Man found Dead; Woman Stabbed to Death, Barricade Incident, Shooting

PHILADELPHIA, PA (AUGUST 7, 2024)--The Philadephia Police Department of Community Affairs released the following information about crimes committed recently in the City of Brotherly Love.
Death Investigations
18th District - 5600 Block of Larchwood Avenue
A 61-year-old Black male was found deceased inside a residence, pronounced dead by Medic 9 at 11:25 AM. The body was heavily decomposed. The scene is being held, and an investigation into the cause of death is ongoing.
24th District - 1900 Block of East Pike Street
At approximately 8:52 AM, a 40-year-old unidentified White female was found unresponsive in the backyard of a property. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic 57 at 8:57 AM. The investigation into her cause of death continues.
Homicide Investigation
3rd District - 2100 Block of South 7th Street
This morning, a tragic homicide occurred involving a 55-year-old Asian female who was fatally stabbed once in the neck and multiple times in both legs. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Medic 27 at 8:26 AM. Police have detained one individual for further questioning, though no weapon has been recovered. The Homicide Unit is actively investigating this case.
Burglary and Barricade Situation
14th District - Metro PCS, 6901 Stenton Avenue
Police responded to a burglary in progress at Metro PCS after receiving a 911 call at 6:35 AM. Upon arrival, officers observed a Black male suspect wearing a black shirt and green shorts fleeing the scene. The suspect then barricaded himself inside a residence at 6700 Block of Cornelius Street, which is believed to be his home. The situation was declared a barricade at 6:58 AM, with a staging area established at Cornelius Street and Beverly Road. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident. The investigation is ongoing, handled by the Northwest Detective Division.
Shooting Incident
15th District - 5200 Block of Frankford Avenue
At 3:45 AM, a shooting occurred on the highway, resulting in a 33-year-old male sustaining a gunshot wound to the left side of his stomach. He was transported in critical condition to Jefferson Frankford Hospital by a private vehicle and is expected to be transferred to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital for further treatment. The police have secured the scene, though no arrests have been made, and no weapons have been recovered. The Shooting Investigation Group is leading the investigation.
