John J. Baker of Collingswood

John J. Baker, of Collingswood, NJ and formerly of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2024. Beloved husband of Thomas Miller, Brother of Earl Baker Jr. (Jane), the late George Baker (Josephine), the late Eugene Baker (Kathy),and the late Theresa Dukes (Joseph), loving Uncle to many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and a cherished member of the Miller Family Outlaws. John
is also survived by his longtime friends and partners in crime, Michael Siciliano and Joseph Macaluso.

John loved to travel, dine out occasionally and host gatherings for family and friends, where laughter and good food always abounded. John loved a party and to memorialize important life events, including three anniversaries each year, birthday months and holidays, each celebrated with great enthusiasm. He was thrilled to have celebrated his 75th birthday in May, surrounded by those he loved.

John was the glue that held his family together. He was always there to lend an ear (although he probably talked more than he listened), offer support, and share his unconditional love. John never missed an opportunity to wish someone a happy birthday or express his affection through cards, rapid-fire text messages, phone calls and abundant gifts.

John served as an Augustinian brother for 15 years and was proud to have been moderator for the Monsignor Bonner Class of 1978, before working at Woody’s Bar in Philadelphia, where he met his future husband.

John's vibrant personality and cheerful disposition made him a treasured figure in the lives of many. He will be deeply missed by all who have had the pleasure of knowing him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend John's viewing on Thursday, August 29th from 9:30 AM to 10:45 AM at St. Teresa of Calcutta Parish, St. John Church, 809 Park Ave., Collingswood, NJ. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery in West Conshohocken, PA.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in John’s memory to the LUPUS Foundation of America. Please visit their website www.lupus.org to explore the various ways to donate.
