Gloucester City Man Arrested for Hunter Street Shooting ; Woman Hospitalized

Gloucester City, N.J.- A Gloucester City man has been arrested and charged in connection to the shooting of woman in Gloucester City on Monday night, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Gloucester City Police Chief Brian Morrell.
Following an investigation by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Gloucester City Police Department, Francisco Griffin, 51, of Gloucester City, N.J., was charged with second-degree Possession of Weapon, second-degree Unlawful Possession of a weapon, second-degree Aggravated Assault, and fourth-degree Criminal Mischief.
On Monday, August 27, 2024, at approximately 10:50 p.m., officers from the Gloucester City Police Department were dispatched to the 600 block of Hunter Street in Gloucester City, for a report of a shooting that occurred. Through the investigation, detectives determined that Griffin fired a handgun while arguing with another individual. The round discharged by Griffin then traveled into a nearby residence and struck an innocent bystander. The innocent bystander who is a 67-year-old female, was transported to Cooper University Hospital and she is in stable condition.
Griffin was remanded to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a pretrial detention hearing.
All persons charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
