Dolores McKieran, of Gloucester City

In the loving care of her family, Dolores, (nee Athey), of Gloucester City, passed peacefully at home on July 30, 2024, at the age of 71. Loving and devoted wife of 50 years to Michael D. McKiernan. Loving mother of James M. McKiernan and his wife, Luisa Tavares McKiernan. Cherished grandmother of Julianna Caitlin Tavares McKiernan. Beloved sister of Robert Burkhardt (Eleanor) and Harold Athey. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews. 

Dolores was born in Philadelphia, PA to the late Harold and Elizabeth Athey (nee Mastin). She was a graduate of West Deptford High School class of 1971 and received her Associate’s Degree from Gloucester County College. Affectionately referred to as “Mrs. D”, she retired as a paraprofessional at Cold Springs School in Gloucester City in 2018. Dolores was longtime faithful, devoted parishioner of St. Mary’s Church, where she sang in the choir. 

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitations on Tuesday evening, August 6th from 6 to 8 PM and Wednesday morning, August 7th from 9 to 10 AM at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, 426 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM in the church. Interment will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Mt. Holly.
