Camden City Man Charged with Theft of Vehicle in Harrison Township

HARRISON TOWNSHIP, NJ (August 27, 2024)--Law enforcement authorities arrested 18-year-old Marcus Gibson of Camden City on August 27, 2024, for allegedly stealing a vehicle from the driveway of a home located in Harrison Township.

At approximately 11:28 PM on Tuesday, July 16th, a black 2023 Subaru Outback was stolen from the owner's residential driveway. The victim stated that the vehicle was unlocked and the key was inside at the time of the theft. At around 3:30 AM on July 17th, the Maple Shade Police Department reported that the stolen vehicle was involved in a shoplifting incident at a Wawa and was occupied by 2 females and 3-4 males. At approximately 6:15 AM on the 17th, the Gloucester Township Police Department found the vehicle unoccupied.
After several investigations and help from the Maple Shade, Gloucester Township, and Washington Township Police Departments, Detective Sergeant Andrew P. Thomas identified a suspect and issued a warrant. Mr. Gibson of Camden was arrested without incident with the assistance of the New Jersey State Police Fugitive Unit on Tuesday, August 27th. He was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and was then taken to the Salem County Correctional Facility.
