Rowan Student Athletes Named IWLCA Academic Honor Squad

NORTHBOROUGH, MA – Rowan’s Calista Burke, Katie Montenero, Hannah Lombardo and Sophia Schiavo have been named to the 2024 IWLCA Division III Academic Honor Roll, while the Profs’ lacrosse team was recognized as an  for 2023-24. 
 
Burke, Lombardo, Montenero and Schiavo were among the 1,125 student-athletes from 201 different institutions who are juniors, seniors or graduate students and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.  For the team award, the Profs are among 324 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA which have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.
 
Burke (Westmont, NJ/Haddon Twp.), a finance major, tallied a career-high 43 goals this season and added 11 assists, to rank third on the team in scoring with 54 points. The junior scored a personal-best four goals in five games this year 
 
Lombardo (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt), a junior exercise science major, was named to the CSC Academic All-District Team this season. The team co-captain also earned All-NJAC Honorable Mention as she recorded 24 points (19 goals, 5 assists), a career-best 34 ground balls and 38 draw controls from her spot in the midfield. 
 
Montenero (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee), also a CSC Academic All-District team selection as an exercise science major, was named to the IWLCA All-Region Second Team. The defender ranked second on the Profs with 39 ground balls, the second highest total on the team, while earning All-NJAC First Team honors.
 
Schiavo (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp) received CSC Academic All-District recognition as well and was named to the IWLCA All-Region First Team. The senior finance major, and team co-captain, achieved career-highs in career-highs in ground balls (30), draw controls (68) and caused turnovers (21). She was also named to the All-Conference First Team while being a key defender on the squad that held the Profs’ foes to 11.1 goals per game.
