Scholarships Awarded to Children of Two Jefferson Health Employees

Children of two Jefferson Health employees have been named recipients of the annual Sanderson Memorial ScholarshipThe scholarships, each for $2,500, are awarded based on academic achievements and an interest in pursuing a career in healthcare. The scholarships are awarded in memory of Sarah Sanderson, an original Board Member of then-Kennedy Health. Sanderson generously bestowed funds to promote the continuation of health education among promising young students.

 The 2024 Scholarship recipients are:

  • Anjuli Nair, of Mickleton, NJ, daughter of Maya Nair, a certified respiratory therapist at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital. Anjuli will graduate from Kingsway Regional High School this month and attend Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, majoring in cell biology and neuroscience. A Gloucester County All-Star for Academic Excellence, Anjuli is President of the Physics Club and World Cultures Club, as well as a member of the STEM Academy and Model United Nations. She is graduating in the top 5 in her class.
  • Karissa Coleman, of Erial, NJ, daughter of Tracy Coleman, Nurse Manager of Jefferson Washington Township Hospital Emergency Department. Karissa will graduate from Timber Creek Regional High School this month as Salutatorian (2nd in her class) and will attend Kings College in Wilkes Barres, PA, majoring in biology. A four-year varsity starter in soccer, Karissa won the Tri-County Scholar Athlete Award and was named 2nd Team All-Conference twice. She is a member of National Honor Society, Science Honor Society and the Interact Club.
