Single Lane Route 55 in Gloucester County for Payment Preservation Work

Route 55 lane closures tonight and tomorrow night as pavement preservation project advances in Gloucester County
At least one lane will be maintained overnight.
(Trenton) – Route 55 is scheduled to have single lane closures tonight and tomorrow night for paving work from Elk Township to Deptford, Gloucester County.
Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, May 8 until 5 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, May 9, the left lane on Route 55 northbound will be closed between mile posts 48.2 in Elk Township and 56 in Deptford. The lane closure is necessary for paving. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained overnight during construction. Motorists are advised to slow down, expect delays and use caution while driving through the work zone.
Tomorrow, Thursday, May 9
Beginning at 8 p.m. tomorrow, Thursday, May 9 until 5 a.m. Friday, May 10, the right lane on Route 55 northbound will be closed between mile posts 48.4 in Elk Township and 54 in Mantua. In addition, the right lane on Route 55 southbound is scheduled to be closed between mile posts 60.5 and 55 in Deptford, at the same times. The closures are necessary paving and rumble strip removal. At least one lane of traffic will be maintained in each direction during construction. Motorists are advised to slow down, expect delays and use caution while driving through the work zone.
This work is part of an $8.2 million federally funded project that will preserve approximately 12 miles of pavement on Route 55 between Whig Lane/CR 619 in Elk Township to Route 42 in Deptford, Gloucester County. This project includes paving most ramps within the project limits, replacing the existing Weigh In Motion system on Route 55 southbound at mile post 57.8, and replacing some drainage inlets and curbs. This project is expected to be completed in summer 2024.
