PITMAN, NJ – Rowan junior Molly Green was named the 2024 NJAC Women's Lacrosse Midfielder of the Year for the second time while Elaina Corson, Katie Montenero, Sophia Schiavo and Hannah Lombardo were each selected to the All-Conference Team as voted on by the league’s coaches.
Green, who earns her third consecutive selection to the All-Conference First Team, is joined on the first team by Corson, Montenero and Schiavo, with Lombardo receiving Honorable Mention.
Green (Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Regional) ranks second on the team in scoring with 65 points (52 goals and 13 assists) but is the Profs’ defensive leader with 94 draw controls and 61 ground balls. The junior set the Rowan single-season record with 43 caused turnovers, breaking the mark of 40 held by Maggie Goodman that has stood since 2006. Green also set a new single-game Rowan record for caused turnovers when she had seven against Washington College (3/6).
The midfielder scored her 100th goal career and now has 115 in her three seasons. Green, who was named the IWLCA National Defensive Player of the Week (4/16), has recorded four-plus goals eight times this season and set a new personal best with six goals in a win over Stockton. Green is tied with Corson for the conference lead in goals per game (4.4) in league contests and is second in points per game (5.4).
Corson (Hainesport, NJ/Rancocas Valley Regional), a sophomore, is the Profs’ leading scorer with 67 points (58 goals, 9 assists). She recently surpassed the 100-goal mark in just two seasons and now has 105 in 36 games played. Corson is tied as the NJAC’s leader (with Green) in goals per game (4.4) in conference games, as she has tallied 22. The attack player has reached her career-high in goals in a game (5) six times this season, including in five of the last six games.
Montenero (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) is a repeat selection to the All-NJAC Team as she received Honorable Mention in 2023. The defender has compiled a career-high 39 ground balls, 20 caused turnovers and 10 draw controls this season.
Schiavo (Sewell, NJ/Washington Twp.) is a first-time honoree and has played a key role on the Profs’ defense along with Montenero. The senior, who often marks the opponent’s top player, has reached new career-highs in all three categories, with 26 ground balls, 21 caused turnovers and 67 draw controls, a number which ranks second on the team.
Lombardo (New Egypt, NJ/New Egypt), a junior midfielder, is selected to the All-Conference team for the first time. She contributed on offense this season by totaling 24 points (19 goals, 5 assists) and posted career-highs in ground balls (32) and caused turnovers (15), to go along with 37 draw controls.
The Profs (8-10) will be making their third straight appearance in the NJAC Championship game on Saturday when they travel to TCNJ. Game time is 1 p.m.
