Household hazardous waste collection to be held Saturday

(Gloucester Township, NJ) – On Saturday, May 18, the Board of Commissioners will be holding a household hazardous waste collection in Waterford Township. During these collections, county residents can bring hazardous materials not suited to be thrown out into the regular garbage such as antifreeze, oil-based paints, weed killer, household cleansers and more.

Saturday’s collection will be held at the Atco Parking Area, at the corner of Atco and Raritan avenues, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“This is a great opportunity to clear out your home of items that can’t just be tossed into the garbage,” said Commissioner Jeffrey Nash, liaison to the office of Environmental Affairs. “These collections also cut down on the number of toxic materials making their way into the environment by collecting and disposing of them in the proper manner.”

At the collection, all residents must show proof of residency and remain in their vehicles throughout the event. All materials to be dropped off should be placed in the rear cargo area of the vehicle, not in the passenger seating area.

Please refer to the attached flier for the full list of materials that will be accepted and materials that will not be accepted.
