Rowan Guard Marcellus Ross named the Co-Small College Player of the Year

CHERRY HILL, NJ - Rowan guard Marcellus Ross (Sicklerville, NJ/St. Joseph’s Hammonton) was named the Co-Small College Player of the Year by the Albert Carino Boys Basketball Club of South Jersey and received the honor during the organization annual awards banquet on April 16th. Dominic Dunn of Widener shared the honor with Ross.

The senior was selected to the All-Conference Second Team this year, marking his third consecutive selection to the All-NJAC Team. Ross recorded 20 or more points in 10 of Rowan’s 27 games this season, while averaging a career-high 18.7 points per game.  He topped the conference in free throw percentage (.874) and three-pointers made per game (3.4). Among the highlights of his season was his 33-point performance in an overtime win at NJCU as well as a 24-point performance in a victory over Eastern, where he recorded his 1,000th career point as a Prof.

Ross finishes his career as Rowan’s sixth all-time leading scorer with 1,461 points and ranks second in three-pointers made with 262. He also ranks 11th in free throws made with 281 and 12th in field goals made with 459.

In addition to three years on the NJAC All-Conference Team, Ross was chosen to the NABC All-District 4 Second Team in 2022 and was the NJAC Player of the Week three times during his career.

In his three years at Rowan, he helped the Profs win the conference championship in 2022-23, as well as capturing two NJAC regular-season titles. This year’s squad went 21-8 and made its third consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament, reaching the Sweet 16 for the second year in a row.
