Route 55 Guard Rail Repairs in Gloucester County

Traffic will be shifted to the right in both directions for several weeks

(Trenton) – Route 55 lane closures are scheduled in both directions tonight as a guiderail replacement project advances in Mantua, Washington, and Deptford townships in Gloucester County.

Beginning at 9 p.m. tonight, Wednesday, April 10, until 5 a.m. tomorrow, Thursday, April 11, the left lanes on Route 55 in both directions are scheduled to be closed between mile post 54 in Mantua and mile post 56 in Deptford to install construction barrier and implement a traffic shift. By Tuesday morning, two lanes will be open with traffic shifted to the right. This traffic pattern will be in place for several weeks for guiderail replacement, parapet modifications, and concrete work.

This work is part of a $4.5 million federally-funded project to replace guiderail on Route 55, Route 322, Route 38, Route 70 and Route 130 in Gloucester, Burlington, and Camden Counties. Roadway work associated with guiderail replacement may also include modifications to bridge parapets and median barriers; and concrete curb, sidewalk, and inlet work. This project is expected to be complete in August of 2024.
