Mt. Ephraim Man Oron Beebe Dies; Teen Assailant Charged with Aggravated Assault

Mount Ephraim, N.J. (April 1, 2024)(CNBNews)- The charge against a juvenile was upgraded today in reference to an assault that fatally injured a man in Mount Ephraim last month, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. On Saturday, March 23, 2024, at approximately 10:40 p.m., Mount Ephraim Police Department officers were dispatched to the parking lot of a business located at 20 West Kings Highway, Mount Ephraim, for the report of an unconscious male.  Upon arrival, officers located the victim, 46-year-old Oron Beebe of Mount Ephraim, lying on the ground, suffering from an apparent head injury. The victim was ultimately transported to Cooper University Hospital.

 

During the investigation, detectives learned that the victim was punched in the head by a juvenile, causing the victim to fall and hit his head on the ground.  The juvenile suspect was identified as a 16-year-old male from Collingswood.

On Monday, March 25, 2024, the juvenile suspect was charged with second-degree Aggravated Assault and taken into custody in Cherry Hill by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division. 

On Sunday, March 31, 2024, the victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at approximately 1:03 a.m. at Cooper University Hospital.

 

On Monday, April 1, 2024, the juvenile was charged with second-degree Manslaughter.  He remains lodged in the Camden County Youth Detention Center.
