GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (April 24, 2024)(CNBNews)--Crystal Wessel, Urban Airshed Reforestation Program Coordinator, praised the volunteers who planted 20 trees recently in the Cypress Gardens section of Gloucester City. Wessel expressed gratitude to the volunteers who participated in the planting.  A combination of shade and flowering trees was planted to improve the block's aesthetics while also providing shade, reducing flooding, and purifying the air and water. Wessel said, “The event was the official Arbor Day Celebration of the city, and it was wonderful to have the volunteers celebrate with us. The trees we planted will not only enhance the block's beauty but will also provide practical benefits. Your hard work and dedication have helped make Gloucester City a more beautiful and sustainable place. Together, we can continue to impact our environment and the community positively.”

Earlier in the month, Public Service Gas and Electric volunteers (above) helped to plant 25 trees around the jogging track at Johnson Boulevard Park.   Gloucester City received over $800,000 in grant money to renovate the park. In the fall the broken asphalt used for the track was removed and new asphalt was put down.
