CNBNews Traffic Alert: Route 42 southbound lane closures tonight

(Trenton) – Route 42 southbound is scheduled to have lane closures tonight as a project to repair the deck on the Route 42 Bridge over Blackwood Railroad Trail advances in Gloucester Township, Camden County.

Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Friday, April 26 until 5 a.m. tomorrow, Saturday, April 27, two lanes are scheduled to be closed on Route 42 southbound before the Blackhorse Pike, between mile post 10.41 and mile post 10.06, to install construction barrier and implement a traffic shift. At least one lane maintained overnight. Temporary stoppages may be required to move equipment. Exit 10A will remain open overnight. By 5 a.m. Saturday, all lanes will be reopened with traffic shifted left onto the newly constructed median roadway.

The $21.3 million state-funded project will remove and replace the existing Route 42 Bridges over Blackwood Railroad Trail. In addition to constructing retaining walls, the project will extend and widen lanes, and add lighting. The project is anticipated to be completed in summer 2024.
