1000th Robotic Surgical Procedure Milestone Reached at Jefferson Stratford Hospital
Tuesday, April 09, 2024
It was a day for celebration as the 1000th Robotic Surgery using the da Vinci Xi surgical system took place at Jefferson Stratford Hospital. Robotic surgeries at the hospital began in January 2022.
Surgeon Adeshola Fakulujo, MD, performed the 1,000th robotic procedure on March 27. Dr. Fakulujo (seated, front row, right) is shown with members of the Jefferson Stratford Hospital surgical services team.
The surgical robot at Jefferson Stratford Hospital is used for bariatric (weight loss) surgery, along with gynecologic, urologic, and general surgery procedures.
Jefferson Health in New Jersey also offers robotic procedures with the da Vinci Xi system at its Washington Township hospital. Robotic surgery enables access throughout a patient’s abdomen and chest, according to a news release, and its 3D-HD vision system gives surgeons a highly magnified view, “extending” their eyes and hands into the patient.
