HARRISON TOWNSHIP NJ (MARCH 23, 2024)--On Wednesday March 20th at approximately 0307 hours, Harrison Township Police Officers were dispatched to a residence on the 800 block of Balis Court in reference to a burglary in progress. The caller advised that after being awakened by a loud noise, she believed that unknown actor(s) had broken into her residence. Approximately one minute later, the first responding officer arrived on scene and, while checking the perimeter, observed that a rear window of the residence had been compromised. The on-scene investigation then revealed that the homeowner's wallet and keys were removed from the residence and their 2021 Range Rover Sport was stolen from the driveway. Since that time, the investigation remained fluid and numerous investigative efforts were utilized which resulted late yesterday in the vehicle being located in Hillside New Jersey and a potential suspect being identified.
As this is a recurring problem within the area, and the State as a whole, we would like to remind our residents to remain vigilant with reporting any and all suspicious vehicles/persons in the area, ensuring that vehicles and residences are locked, alarms are set and motion lighting is functioning (if applicable). Additionally, keep keys, wallets and any other valuables out of plain view from windows or near interior garage door entrances.
