Rutgers Graduates, Guests Must Register Online for Commencement Parking

 

New Brunswick, N.J. (March 21, 2024) – Rutgers University-New Brunswick’s 258th Commencement will be held at SHI Stadium on the Busch Campus in Piscataway, rain or shine, at 10 a.m. on Sunday, May 12, 2024. Gates will open at 8 a.m. Participants and visitors are urged to arrive early to allow ample time to park and walk to the ceremony or take one of the complimentary shuttle buses to the stadium.

 

Parking

  • Members of Rutgers’ Class of 2024 are eligible to receive up to two free commencement parking passes for themselves and guests, but only if they register online at commencement.rutgers.edu/parking by 10 a.m. on April 22, 2024.
  • Registrants will receive maps, directions and color-coded commencement hangtags in early May.
  • Parking permits issued by the Rutgers Department of Transportation for use during the year will not be valid on Sunday, May 12, during commencement. Commencement hangtags are not needed for academic convocations and receptions held on other days.

Shuttle Busses

  • Free, ADA-compliant shuttle bus service between the College Avenue and Livingston campuses, and the stadium, will begin at 7 a.m. and run every three to five minutes until 2 p.m.
  • For those taking a taxi or car service (including Uber and Lyft), the College Avenue Student Center, 126 College Ave., is the designated drop-off location where shuttles can be boarded.
  • For those taking a train to the New Brunswick Station, take the College Avenue Shuttle bus from the Albany Street side of the station, in front of the Dunkin Donuts.

Security and Prohibited Items

  • The SHI Stadium bag policy will be enforced.
  • Permitted items include:
    • Clutches and wallets no larger than 4½ inches by 6½ inches
    • Clear plastic bags no larger than one gallon.  
  • Prohibited items include any bags larger than the permitted sizes, outside food and beverages, umbrellas, strollers, signs, and balloons.
