Rowan Women's Lacrosse Over Clarkson, 18-4

SPARKS, MD (March 18, 2024)-- – Elaina Corson and Calista Burke had four goals apiece as Rowan rolled to an 18-4 win over Clarkson  in women’s lacrosse action today played on USA Lacrosse’s Tierney Field. The Profs snap a four-game losing streak and had Clarkson (4-1) its first loss to improve to 3-4 on the year.  

 

Molly Green and freshman Alexis Lowry added three goals each and Hannah Lombardo, Fiona Lockhart and Yasmin Harris had a goal each. Trish Gillen handed out a game-high three assists for Rowan. 

 

Mel Rodgers made 10 saves in goal for the Profs and registered a career-best four goals against.   

 

The Profs led 3-2 in the early going, helped by two from Corson but broke it open by outscoring Clarkson, 6-0, in the second quarter. Corson and Burke alternated scoring goals for the first four of the quarter, with Green scoring the final two before halftime to give Rowan a 9-2 lead at the break.  

 

Rowan scored three in a row to open the third quarter with Burke netting two, taking assists from Ryley O’Brien and Corson as it built up a 12-2 lead. Clarkson ended its scoreless streak with a goal at 7:47, but then Gillen netted one for the Profs, followed by two from Lowry as Rowan held a commanding 15-3 advantage at the end of the third.  

 

Lowry scored her third in the row with a man-up goal to start the final quarter, with the assist from Lombardo to increase Rowan’s lead to 16-3. Clarkson got its final goal with 9:06 remaining before Harris netted her first goal of the season and Lombardo added the finishing touch with a goal assisted by Gillen at the final horn.  

 

Rowan is back at home this week meeting Scranton on Thursday at 4 p.m.
