Route 70 westbound lane closure tonight to close the Conestoga Drive jughandle

 

(Trenton) – The right lane Route 70 westbound is scheduled to be closed tonight in order to close and detour the Conestoga Drive jughandle to Route 70 eastbound in Evesham, Burlington County.

 

Beginning at 8 p.m. tonight, Thursday, March 7, until 6 a.m. tomorrow, Friday, March 8, the right lane Route 70 westbound is scheduled to be closed, along with the Conestoga Drive jughandle to Route 70 eastbound to place construction barrier. Conestoga Drive will remain open.

 

By 6 a.m. tomorrow, the right lane on Route 70 westbound will reopen and the Conestoga Drive jughandle will remain closed and detoured. Conestoga Drive will remain open in both directions during construction. The jughandle closure is necessary for culvert repairs. The following detour will be in place through spring 2024:

 

Conestoga Drive Jughandle Detour:

  • Motorists on Route 70 westbound wishing to take the Conestoga Drive jughandle to Route 70 eastbound/Old Marlton Pike/U and Left Turns will be directed to continue on Route 70 westbound
  • Take the exit to South Springdale Road/Vorhees
  • Turn left onto Route 70 eastbound

 

The work is part of a $153 million state-funded Route 70 corridor safety and improvement project that will improve gas and watermains, upgrade traffic signals at 27 intersections, replace or install four Dynamic Message Signs, improve drainage, sidewalks, and resurface approximately 9 miles of Route 70 between Route 38 in Cherry Hill and Cooper Avenue in Evesham. In addition to milling and paving Route 70, the North Maple Avenue loop ramps and the Route 70/Route 73 interchange ramps will be repaved as well. The project is expected to be completed by winter 2026.
