Kathleen “Kathy” Teresa Wylen, 70, of Audubon, NJ passed away peacefully while surrounded by loved ones, on March 21, 2024, after many months battling an unexpected illness. Screen Shot 2022-01-08 at 21.18.18

Kathy was born on February 15, 1954 to Harry and Catherine “Cass” Cole (nee Schmidt) in Camden, NJ. Kathy lived her entire life in her beloved hometown of Audubon, NJ, of which she was immensely proud.

After graduating from Audubon High School in 1972, she went on to work for multiple NJ Health systems at Our Lady of Lourdes, Virtua, Cooper and Haddonfield Family Practice, where she was a friendly voice to the many patients that would cross her path. Kathy was an advocate for the people even at times risking her own positions to make sure they received the best care.

Kathy dedicated her retired time to volunteering for the American Legion Auxiliary Post 262, Holy Name Society, (Lions Club Audubon Chapter), and the Audubon Library Committee.

Kathy was very fond of her beagles Jack, Bailey and Rocky, that she mothered over the years. She loved attending the Atlantic City Airshow where she watched in amazement from her casino rooms, while playing games when the opportunity to drop a quarter presented itself. Kathy was a devoted parishioner of St. Joseph the Worker Parish, enjoyed the Audubon Fourth of July annual celebrations and the anticipated trips to the Jersey Shore.

Kathy enjoyed watching and routing for Philadelphia sports teams: Go Phillies! Kathy was extremely proud of her twins, Shawn and Sara for serving our country, respectively in the United States Navy and Air Force. She poured her heart and soul into loving on her grandson, Rylan.

Kathy is survived by lots of loving family and friends: Beloved wife to Gil Wylen. Beloved mother to Shawn White (Hayden Bricker), Sara Barry (Ryan), and Aaron Wylen. Beloved sister to Jackie Castaldi (Mark). Beloved niece to Arthur Cohn. Beloved grandmother to Rylan Cole, Cambria, Zinnia, Courtney, Rachael, and Nikki. Beloved lifelong friend to many. Kathy joins her parents, peacefully in Heaven.

Anyone who knew Kathy always commented on her boisterous energy and her knack for always having something to say. We will all certainly miss her.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation on Wednesday, March 27, 2024, 9:00 to 11:00 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, St. Vincent Pallotti Church, 901 Hopkins Rd., Haddon Twp., NJ.  Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM.  Interment Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill, NJ.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, please send donations in honor of Kathleen T. Wylen to either SOS Beagles (www.sosbeagles.org) or New Jersey Beagle Rescue (www.beagle.rescueme.org).
