YOUR MONEY: Gloucester City Receives $2.2M in Grants

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (March 2024)(CNBNews)--Recently, Lori Ryan from the Gloucester City Community Development Office announced that the city has received $2,227,100 in grants from both the state and federal government.
The funds will be used for several projects, including repairing Johnson Boulevard Park, planting trees, adding play areas to Proprietors Park, installing security cameras in public spots, constructing a parking lot on King Street, and building a storage facility for event materials at Proprietors Park.
A breakdown of the funding includes:
*$830,000 Green Acres Grant for repairs to the Park at Johnson Boulevard
*$40,000 from NJ Tree Foundation for trees planted on Chestnut Street, Oriental Avenue, and at the Johnson Boulevard park area. More trees this year on April 10th at Johnson Boulevard.
*$358,000 for Community Project Funding from the federal government with the help of 1st District Democrat Congressman Donald Norcross for additional play area at Proprietors Park.
*$1,100,000 combined grants for security cameras installed in all public areas.
*$100,000 from UEZ allocation funds
*$200,000 from the state budget and $800,000 from the Community Project Funding program with the help of Congressman Donald Norcross.
*$100,000 from UEZ allocation funds for a public parking lot installed at 106 King Street.
*$50,000 for a UEZ storage building to store event materials at Proprietors Park.
