JEER—According to salary.com, the average salary for a Chief of Police in New Jersey is $131,100, with a typical range between $123,800 and $139,100. However, here in Gloucester City, the police chief is paid a salary between $125,000 and $240,000, but for some strange reason, the exact amount of this employee's compensation is not listed. This is a secret being kept from the taxpayers by their elected leaders, and it's unacceptable that such information is not disclosed. Once again, the residents are kept in the dark, and they are the ones paying the chief's salary. Shame on Mayor Baile and his six "YES Puppets" (Baus, Berglund, Cilurso, Johnson, Page, Timm)who continually vote to raise property taxes. Since 2018, Baile and his Puppets have been responsible for Gcity being listed in the Top 30 communities with the highest taxes in NJ. It's high time that taxpayers demanded transparency and accountability from their individuals.
JEER-It's quite puzzling and concerning that the Gloucester City administration has taken four long years to fill the critical role of a full-time City Administrator. It's challenging to comprehend how our city leaders have allowed such an essential position to remain unoccupied for such an extended period of time. The lack of urgency and attention toward filling this position is alarming, given the importance of the tasks the City Administrator handles. This delay in hiring has undoubtedly impeded the city's ability to function at its best, with no apparent justification as to why this position has been unfilled for so long. It's high time our city leaders take this matter seriously and provide the residents with a much-needed explanation for the delay.
JEER --The resolution to appoint Thomas Quinn as the Director of Fire Services was passed in February during a meeting of the Fire Committee of the City Council. However, it is concerning that the committee did not take the initiative to inform the public about this appointment. This lack of transparency is not limited to promotions but also extends to equipment purchases. For instance, a $700,000 fire engine was bought a few years ago, but the public was not informed about it. The public has the right to know about the promotions and purchases made by the fire department. The Fire Committee should be more transparent in its decision-making and inform the public about the key developments in the department, as well as how their tax dollars are being spent. This will help build trust between the department and the community it serves.
JEER--As reported by CNBNews, the City Fire Department has had many personnel problems, such as a firefighter setting the pants of another firefighter on fire. Also, a fireman who lost his license for six months for drunk driving was allowed to keep his job despite the fact that a driver's license is a requirement. Hopefully, by hiring Thomas Quinn, the Director of Fire Services, who we believe is unrelated to any of the employees, these personnel problems will stop. This change was long overdue.
JEER--Gloucester City recently replaced its old welcome signs at the entrances to the city. In an effort to raise funds to pay for the new
signs, the Mayor and Council decided to solicit businesses to sponsor them. In return, the businesses would be able to place their advertisements on the signs. According to our source, the council had considered different pricing options for the advertisement, ranging from $1,000 to $10,000. However, after much consideration and discussion, they decided only to charge $200 for the entire year. One of the first advertisers to accept the offer was the Cheerleaders Gentlemen's Club. In today's economy, a new sign like the one pictured had to cost more than $200. Who in our government came up with that price? Who picked the businesses to be given such a great advertising bargain?
JEER--The Gloucester City Mayor and city council are currently involved in a $10.5 million dollar lawsuit with Organic Diversion, LLC. The lawsuit was filed by Mr. Rocco D'Antonio, the managing member after the City of Gloucester City walked away from a deal signed 14 years ago in 2010. The City hired Archer and Greener (A&G) of Haddonfield to represent the residents of Gloucester City. However, since the residents will be paying for the multi-million dollar lawsuit, if D'Antonio wins, many believe they should have had a say in choosing the attorney. Unfortunately, those in charge tend to keep citizens in the dark, and there is little transparency about what is happening in the city. Presently, taxpayers owe A&G $871,230 just for depositions.
CHEER--The City has taken a positive step towards enhancing their fire services by appointing Thomas Quinn as their new Director of Fire Services. Quinn's extensive experience and knowledge will undoubtedly bring significant improvements to the department and ensure that the community is well-served. This is a great development for the city, and we look forward to seeing the positive impact of Quinn's leadership. We are thrilled to hear this news and wish Quinn all the best in his new role. We would also like to thank CNBNews for sharing this information with the public. It's always great to see news outlets highlighting positive developments in our communities.
