Rowan's Earns Berth to 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship

GLASSBORO – The Rowan men’s basketball team has earned an at-large berth to the 2024 NCAA Division III Men’s Basketball Championship and will face Carnegie Mellon (18-6) in the first round on Friday, March 1, with Catholic University serving as the host. Tip-off is 3:15 p.m. at the DuFour Center.
Catholic (23-4) will take on Worcester State (18-9) in Friday’s other game at 5:45 p.m. with the winners meeting on Saturday’s Second Round , which is set for 5:45 p.m.
Rowan, 19-7, captured its second straight NJAC regular-season title with a 13-5 conference mark, but was eliminated in the semifinals of the league’s championship. The Profs, under interim head coach Eric Brennan, are led by the NJAC Player of the Ja’Zere Noel, who averaged 21.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. Junior Khalif Meares was named the NJAC Defensive Player of the Year as he leads the nation in steals (3.5 average) while scoring 19.1 points per game. Marcellus Ross, an All-NJAC Second Team selection, is the team’s third leading scorer with 18.8 ppg and one of the top three-point shooters in the nation, with 3.5 field goals per game.
The Profs are making their 16th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament and their third consecutive. Rowan, which owns an all-time record of 32-14 in the NCAA Championship, has earned a berth to the tournament four times in the last five seasons played.
Last year, the Profs advanced to the NCAA Third Round at Mount Union where they were defeated by Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
