John E. Kraus, Sr. age 86, Army Veteran also Member of New Jersey National Guard

Passed peacefully after a brief illness on February 14, 2024, formerly of Audubon, Cherry Hill and most recently, Edgewater Park, NJ. Age 86 years.
John, who was the longest-living Kraus, lovingly raised five children with his late wife, Joan, while attending Drexel University for his Mechanical Engineering degree. His children all attended college, which was one of his goals in life. He was a U.S. Army veteran and additionally served in the Army National Guard of NJ. He began his career in 1956 as "Jack" at the Naval Air Warfare Center in Lakehurst, NJ and by 1989 was promoted to Division Head in the Naval Air Community. Upon his retirement, he completed 45 years of service in the federal government. In recent years, his joy in life was spending time with his wife, Carol, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his nephews, Matthew (Meredith) and family and Samuel.
John was predeceased by his first wife, Joan, his parents, John and Delma Kraus, and his brother, Larry Kraus. He is lovingly survived by his wife, Carol, and her son, Mark; his children, Christine (Herb) Magnin-Curran, Kimberly (Bill) Plungis, Catherine (Tad) Stelmaszyk, John (Kris) Kraus, Jr and Beth (Michael) Kraus; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, 9 AM to 11 AM at the FOSTER-WARNE FUNERAL HOME, 250 White Horse Pike, Audubon, NJ. Funeral Service will follow at 11 AM. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill, NJ.
