Tamyra Ramsey

The Philadelphia Police Department remains committed to placing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at the forefront of its mission, and recognizes the critical role it plays in building trust and positive relationships within the community and our department. Ms. Ramsey will hold the position of Acting Director of Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Officer while a search is conducted for a permanent replacement.

Tamyra Ramsey, a West Philadelphia native, is a highly respected thought leader and educator specializing in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. She is known for her ability to gently and tactfully impart challenging lessons that spur creativity and transformation inside companies. As an authentic leader with a bias for action, she is recognized for gathering groups with opposing views to peacefully resolve conflict and build transformational change.

Tamyra received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from George Mason University. During her time at George Mason, she collaborated with University Police to launch an initiative focused on enhancing sustainable relationships between students, housing and residence life and the George Mason University Police Department. This sparked her desire to create synergy between public safety officials and the community. Her life’s mission is to be a true advocate by elevating the voices of underserved communities.

Tamyra received her professional certificate in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion from the Wisconsin School of Business and is currently pursuing her Masters in Urban Health from Drexel University. She recently completed Instructor Development training for the Philadelphia Police Department.

Her advocacy experience also includes working as a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion consultant for Uplifting Impact, one of the leading consulting firms dedicated to supporting diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, under the mentorship of Deanna Singh.

When she is not working towards her goals of achieving better ambitions and progression in her field, Tamyra can be found enjoying the presence of her loved ones and eating some really good food (she considers herself a foodie). Tamyra is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and the Sanctuary Church of Deliverance.

The Philadelphia Police Department is confident that Ms. Ramsey's expertise and passion will be instrumental in advancing our DEI goals and fostering a more inclusive and equitable department for all. We look forward to the positive impact she will make throughout her tenure.
