Philadelphia Man Arrested for Leaving Infant During Suspected Retail Theft
FRIDAY, JANUARY 26, 2024 – The Philadelphia Police Department announced the arrest of Alganon Muhammad, 22, in connection with an incident that occurred on January 18th at a Walmart on the 4300 block of Byberry Road.
On January 18th, Muhammad entered the store with two other individuals – a Black male and a White female – and a 3-month-old child at approximately 11:30 PM. After leaving the checkout area, store security suspected them of retail theft and approached group. All three adults fled the store immediately, leaving the child behind unattended.
The child was unharmed and taken to Frankford-Torresdale Hospital for evaluation before being released to her mother.
Following a nearly week-long investigation, Muhammad surrendered to police on January 26th. He has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Retail Theft, Criminal Conspiracy, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person (REAP).
The investigation into the remaining two suspects is ongoing.
Suspect Who Allegedly Helped Shane Pryor Escape Arrested
(January 26, 2024) - The Philadelphia Police Department has apprehended Michael Diggs, 18, in connection with the escape of Shane Pryor from custody on January 24, 2024.
On January 24, 2024, personnel from the Juvenile Justice Service Center were transporting Shane Pryor to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for an injury to his hand. At approximately 11:56 AM, upon their arrival at the hospital, Pryor managed to escape custody and disappeared in the surrounding area.
A comprehensive investigation was promptly initiated, leading the police to trace Pryor's movements and gather information suggesting that Pryor had been picked up by an individual driving a cream-colored Ford. On January 24th, officers intercepted the vehicle and detained its driver, Michael Diggs, for questioning.
Following a thorough inquiry, Michael Diggs was formally charged with Hindering Apprehension, Escape, Use of Communication Facility, and Criminal Conspiracy in relation to Shane Pryor's escape. The arrest marks a significant step forward in the ongoing efforts to bring all those involved in the incident to justice.
