Infant Abandoned at Byberry Road Walmart

PHILADELPHIA, PA (January 19, 2024(CNBNews)--The Philadelphia Police Department is investigating the abandonment of a 3-month-old infant girl at the Walmart located on the 4300 block of Byberry Road on Thursday, January 18th, 2024.

At approximately 11:00 PM, responding officers were initially dispatched to the store for a report of a theft in progress. Store security personnel informed officers that they attempted to apprehend three individuals suspected of shoplifting. Those individuals, two Black males and one White female, subsequently fled the store, leaving behind a 3-month-old infant girl.

The infant was immediately transported to Jefferson-Torresdale Hospital by PFD paramedics for evaluation. Her condition is reported to be good. The Philadelphia Police Department's Special Victims Unit (SVU) is currently investigating the incident.
