Help Keep Letter Carriers Safe

NEW JERSEY – The US Postal Service will make every reasonable effort to provide retail and delivery service to customers when it is safe to do so – neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow.
To assist in the mission of safe and timely delivery to customers, the public can help in keeping walkways, sidewalks, and approaches to mailboxes clear from snow and ice. Mounds of snow and patches of ice in front of mailboxes are a barrier to safe delivery.
Residents should maintain a clear path to their mailbox — including steps, porches, walkways and street approach — to help maintain consistent delivery service. Customers receiving curbside delivery from employee vehicles should also ensure snow plowed against mailboxes is cleared.
Customers with questions about their mail service can call the USPS Customer Care Center at 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777).

The United States Postal Service is an independent federal establishment, mandated to be self-financing and to serve every American community through the affordable, reliable and secure delivery of mail and packages to 167 million addresses six and often seven days a week. Overseen by a bipartisan Board of Governors, the Postal Service is implementing a 10-year transformation plan, Delivering for America, to modernize the postal network, restore long-term financial sustainability, dramatically improve service across all mail and shipping categories, and maintain the organization as one of America’s most valued and trusted brands.
The Postal Service generally receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
