Trenton, NJ (January 24, 2024)– Today, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) announced the winners of the third solicitation for offshore wind projects in New Jersey. Selected new developers include Leading Light Wind, a joint venture between Invenergy and energyRE which will bring 2400 MW of power to 1 million homes. Light Wind is the first American project to be awarded an offshore wind bid, and includes an energy equity program aimed to reduce costs to ratepayers. The second project will be developed by Attentive Energy LLC and total 1342 MW. Combined these two projects will bring 3,742 additional MW of offshore wind to New Jersey’s Grid, and power 1.8 million homes.

This moves New Jersey one step further towards Governor Murphy’s goal of 11 megawatts of offshore wind power by 2040 and achieving one hundred percent clean energy by 2035.
