Washington Twp. Man Charged with Possession and Distribution of CSAM

GLOUCESTER COUNTY NJ (Joseph Dalessandro, a 37-year-old male of Washington Township, has been criminally charged by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office with offenses related to the Distribution and Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) as the result of an investigation conducted by the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office High-Tech Crimes Unit (HTCU).
On October 26, 2023, GCPO became aware of a social media account on KIK that was in possession of CSAM. Through investigation, GCPO detectives assigned to the HTCU identified the registered owner of the KIK account as Joseph Dalessandro. On December 14, 2023, detectives from the GCPO High-Tech Crimes Unit and the Washington Township Police Department executed a search warrant at Dalessandro’s residence. During the search, numerous CSAM files were located. Dalessandro was arrested, processed and charged with the following offenses (one count of each):
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child; N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4 (B) (5) (A) (I), a second-degree crime,
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child; N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4 (B) (5) (A) (II), a second-degree crime,
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child; N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4 (B) (5) (B), a third-degree crime.
Dalessandro is detained at the Salem County Correctional Facility pending further court proceedings.
Despite these charges, every defendant is presumed innocent, unless and until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which the defendant has all of their rights as guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution and State Law.
