Ron Canning, Gloucester City Police Officer, and U.S. Navy Veteran Succumbs at age 87

Surrounded by his family, Ron passed peacefully on December 10, 2023, at the age of 87. Of Gloucester City. Loving husband of 55 years to the late Frances Canning (nee Harvey). Loving father of Joseph “Ronnie” Canning, Jr. and Pamela Gettings. Cherished grandfather of 6 and great-grandfather of 13. Beloved brother of Robert J. Canning. 

Ron was born in Philadelphia, Pa to the late Joseph H. and Florence Canning. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Navy from 1955 to 1959. Ron was a dedicated patrolman for the Gloucester City Police Department with 25 years of service to the residents of Gloucester City, retiring in 1995.

Relatives, friends, current and retired members of GCPD are invited to his viewing on Saturday morning, December 16th from 9:30 to 11 AM at the MCCANN-HEALEY FUNERAL HOME, 851 Monmouth St., Gloucester City. Funeral service 11 AM in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will follow in New St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bellmawr.
