Camden City, N.J.- A Camden City man has been arrested and charged for the fatal shooting of a man on September 9, 2023, reported Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay and Camden County Police Chief Gabriel Rodriguez. On December 5, 2023, Jaffar Muhammad, 32, of Camden City was charged in the fatal shooting of Alberto DeJesus, 31, of Camden City.
Muhammad was charged with first-degree Murder and weapons offenses. Muhammad was in custody in the Camden County Correctional Facility for weapons charges when he was charged with the murder of DeJesus.
On Saturday, September 9, 2023, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Camden County Police Department Officers responded to Norris Street and Lansdowne Avenue in reference to a motor vehicle that crashed into a pole. Inside the motor vehicle, was a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as 31-year-old Alberto DeJesus of Camden. He was pronounced deceased at 11:54 p.m.
All individuals charged with crimes are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
