CONGRATULATIONS: Rowan's Cavicchio and DiDonato Named to NFHCA All-America Team

GENEVA, NY – Rowan’s Julia Cavicchio and Vanessa DiDonato have been named to the 2023 NFHCA All-American Team, with Cavicchio receiving selection to the first team and DiDonato being named to the second team.  The Profs are among 48 athletes from Division III as chosen by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.

Cavicchio (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) is named an All-American for the first time in her career, after being named to the All-Region IV First Team for the second year in a row. The junior back was also tabbed as the 2023 NJAC Defensive Player of the Year and received her second selection to the All-Conference First Team.

The team co-captain was the centerpiece of the Profs’ defense, which allowed just 1.75 goals per game. She also contributed offensively, as Rowan’s second leading scorer with career-bests of nine goals and seven assists, which included two game-winning goals.

DiDonato (Burlington, NJ/Burlington City) emerged as Rowan’s leading scorer in 2023, and earned her first selections to the All-Region IV First Team and the All-NJAC First Team.

The junior forward recorded new career-highs of 18 goals and five assists, to lead the NJAC in goals and points (23). DiDonato recorded five games with multiple goals, including a five-goal effort in the conference semifinal win that tied the school record for goals in a game. She also notched two game-winning goals for the Profs.

Cavicchio and DiDonato increase the number of All-America selections in the Rowan field hockey program to 48, with a total of 24 first-team honorees. The Profs have had two student-athletes receive first-team status in three consecutive years.

Rowan went 11-7 this season and finished the year ranked 16th in the nation. The Profs won their third consecutive NJAC Championship and made their fifth straight appearance in the NCAA Championship.
