Big Timber Creek Bridge North, Closed for Paving Tonight

Route 130 northbound to be closed and detoured tonight at
Bridge over Big Timber Creek in Gloucester and Camden counties
Closures necessary for paving
(Trenton) – Route 130 northbound is scheduled to be closed and detoured tonight as the Bridge over Big Timber Creek replacement project advances in Camden and Gloucester counties.
From 8 p.m. tonight, Monday, December 11 until 6 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, December 12, Route 130 northbound will be closed and detoured between River Drive in Westville, Gloucester County and the Brooklawn Circle in Brooklawn, Camden County. The closure is necessary for paving. The following detour will be in place:
Route 130 northbound detour:
- Motorists on Route 130 northbound will be directed to turn right onto River Drive, which is before the Bridge over Big Timber Creek
- Turn left onto Route 47/Broadway
- At Brooklawn Circle, take the first exit to Route 130 northbound
or
- At Brooklawn Circle, take the third exit to CR 551/South New Broadway
- At the roundabout, take the first exit to CR 551/South New Broadway northbound
The project is being done in 10 stages. Stage 1 work is complete. Work in the next two stages, Stage 2A and 2B, will involve the removal and reconstruction of the Route 130 northbound deck, substructure, superstructure and roadway, including sidewalks, curbs and parapets. Removal and replacement of piers and the fender system will also be done during these stages, as well as the installation of navigational lights, light poles, and bridge fence and railing. There will be drainage work and the construction of temporary pavement on both sides of the bridge for a southbound traffic crossover. These stages are expected to be complete by Summer 2025.
The $54 million federally funded project will replace the Route 130 Bridge over Big Timber Creek between Brooklawn, Camden County and Westville, Gloucester County. The project is expected to be complete by spring 2028.
Variable Message Signs will provide advance notification to motorists of traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
