Gloucester Twp. Police Chief David J. Harkins Thanksgiving Message

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (CNBNews)-As we head into the 2023 Holiday Season, the Gloucester Township Police Department again have a lot to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. We are thankful that we live in a country that has freedom of expression and relative safety in our day-to-day lives. When we see war and violence taking place across the globe, we are thankful for our community and our American way of life.

As you enjoy Gloucester Township during this holiday season, you will see our officers on duty. We will be working hard to keep our community safe. We will be conducting traffic enforcement, looking to stop drunk driving, and curb aggressive driving. We will work to reduce crashes and keep our community safe, so we can all enjoy the holidays.

Please slow down, don’t look at your phones while driving, and don’t drink alcohol or use marijuana if you are driving.

We will be deploying our officers to keep everyone safe and reduce crime throughout the holiday season.

As you celebrate Thanksgiving with your family, please take a moment to remember the 103 Law Enforcement Officers who have died in the line of duty this year (see www.odmp.org ) keeping this great country safe. Please remember the family of Deptford Township Police Officer Bobby Shisler, and all the families of the fallen, who will be grieving their loved ones during the holiday season.

The men and women of the Gloucester Township Police Department will honor them by carrying out our law enforcement and public safety mission. We will be there when our community needs us.

On behalf of all of the members of the Gloucester Township Police Department we would like to wish you a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving! We are honored to serve you.

Thank you for your support!

David J. Harkins
Chief of Police
