Gloucester Catholic Announces Establishment of the Carl Schoenborn Scholars Program!

GLOUCESTER CITY, NJ (NOVEMBER 13, 2023)(CNBNews)--Gloucester Catholic is pleased to share the announcement of the Carl Schoenborn Scholars Programs. If you are considering the startup of a GC Scholars Program to honor your family and help current students, contact Pat Murphy, Executive Director of Development, at [email protected].

Carl Schoenborn '55 is truly grateful to give back to the current generation of Ram students.  He is proud to help GCHS students benefit from a Catholic education as he did while a student here in the 1950s.

Carl is one of the few GCHS alums to earn 14 total varsity letters. He received these in football, basketball, and baseball (4 years each) and in track and field in his junior and senior years. Upon graduation from Gloucester Catholic, Mr. Schoenborn attended and played football at Gettysburg College.

Following Gettysburg, he worked for Pfizer Pharmaceuticals for 40 years as a senior-level district manager overseeing his territory in Southern New Jersey before retiring 20 years ago. Carl has also stayed active in his hometown community, serving as a Burlington Township councilman since 1989.

He and his wife Diane raised four sons -- Scott, twins Terry and Tim, and Eric -- all of whom attended Holy Cross High School and were raised in the Catholic faith.

"I am honored to provide a scholarship program to a deserving Gloucester Catholic student," said Mr. Schoenborn.  "The Dominican Sisters taught us academics and the Catholic faith and everything we needed to succeed. They impressed upon us that you can accomplish anything in life if you set your mind to it.

"I was fortunate to continue my academic and athletic accomplishments at Gettysburg College and then continue these traditions into my personal life and professional career. I am so thankful for what Gloucester Catholic gave me. Once a Ram, Always a Ram!"

Gloucester Catholic is so grateful to have committed alumni like Carl Schoenborn who is willing to give back to the school to allow a GC education become a reality for so many of our families!
