PHILADELPHIA PA, NOVEMBER 1963(CNBNews)- In the early years of the show, there were strict dress codes for both the gents and the ladies. The females were required to wear a blouse and skirt and were not allowed to wear dungarees. Boys, on the other hand, had to wear suit jackets and ties. In the accompanying picture, most girls are seen sporting a "BeeHive" hairdo, while the boys' hairstyle was referred to as a "Peter Gun", named after the detective who played the starring role in a popular TV show in the '60s. However, this style for boys did not last long, as Elvis' popularity led to more guys sporting a pompadour, and the Beatles shocked the world with their long hair that covered their ears and was long in the back.
