Two Vehicles Collide Head-On at Berlin Cross Keys Road Intersection, Occupants Injured

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ (On Wednesday, October 25, 2023 at 3:02 pm, Gloucester Township Police were dispatched to the intersection of Berlin Cross Keys Road at Johnson Road for a report of a head on motor vehicle collision involving two vehicles where one of the vehicles was beginning to smoke.

Arriving GTPD Officers and Firefighters from Lambs Terrace safely removed all occupants of the vehicles as one of the vehicles became fully involved in fire which was quickly put out. Inspira BLS and Virtua ALS units treated the drivers and occupants of both vehicles. An adult and two juveniles were taken to Cooper University Hospital and two other juveniles were taken to Jefferson Washington Township with injuries ranging from minor to serious, but not life threatening.

Officers assigned to the Gloucester Township Police Traffic Safety Unit (TSU) are handing the investigation. During the initial stages of the investigation Johnson Road was closed and the westbound lane of Berlin Cross Keys Road was reduced to one lane for approximately one hour. Initial investigation revealed a Gray Subaru Impreza was traveling westbound and as it approached the intersection the driver of a White Honda Pilot traveling eastbound abruptly attempted to make a left turn onto Johnson Road in front of the Subaru causing a head on collision. Names of all involved are being withheld at this time pending notifications and follow-up investigation.

As a reminder, all occupants of a motor vehicle should ensure they wear seat belts at all times to reduce the likelihood of death or serious bodily injury resulting from a crash. Also, it is imperative to take your time when making turning movements to ensure the area is clear before turning.
