NJDOT Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment

The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is holding a Virtual Public Information Center (PIC) to provide residents, officials, and businesses with information on the Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Program.

Please visit the following website any time between Wednesday, October 11, 2023 through Wednesday, October 25, 2023 to learn more about the project and leave comments:  (Please note, the link will not be live before October 11.)

New Jersey has designated the Interstate Highways as Alternative Fuel Corridors (AFCs), to be equipped with electric vehicle fast chargers no more than 50 miles apart, and within 1 mile of an exit.

The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program funds the deployment of Electric Vehicle (EV) fast chargers along designated electric vehicle corridors to establish an interconnected EV charging network across each state and the nation. It is the NJDOT’s intent to deploy EV charging stations in New Jersey strategically and to establish an interconnected network to facilitate data collection, access, and reliability. Funding is available for up to 80% of eligible project costs, including:

  • The acquisition, installation, and network connection of EV charging stations to facilitate data collection, access, and reliability
  • Proper operation and maintenance of EV charging stations
  • Long-term EV charging station data sharing
