Khalif Chambers, 20, of Atlantic City, 7 Years Prison Term for Pos. of Cocaine

MAYS LANDING, NJ – On Monday, October 23, 2023, Khalif Chambers, 20, of Atlantic City, NJ, was sentenced by the Honorable Donna M. Taylor, J.S.C., on charges of unlawful possession of a handgun and possession of cocaine with the intent to distribute it. Under the terms of his plea agreement, Chambers was sentenced to seven years in New Jersey State Prison with 42 months of parole ineligibility under the Graves Act.
On January 6, 2023, an officer from the Atlantic City Police Department was on routine patrol when he saw a vehicle obstructing traffic. Following a motor vehicle stop, Chambers was identified as the passenger in the vehicle. A drug detection canine positively alerted to the presence of narcotics in the vehicle which led to a search of the vehicle and the recovery of a loaded handgun under Chambers’ seat. A search of Chambers’ person led to the recovery of approximately one ounce of crack cocaine and cash. During his guilty plea, Chambers admitted he intended to distribute the cocaine.
The case was prosecuted by the Gangs, Guns, and Narcotics Unit of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office.
